A subsidiary of Rostec Corporation – Institute of Electronic Control Computers named after I.S.Bruk (INEUM) – has provided a set of anthropomorphic bionic prosthetic human elbow, knee and foot controlled by neurointerface to Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare (Roszdravnadzor) to develop methods and conduct clinical trials.

As was informed to “Izvestia” by Chief Engineer Arsenty Gusev, the use of such devices can now make life easier for people with disabilities, and in the future will form the basis for the biomechanical system design for an exoskeleton, including for combat use.

The scientists of Florida University have modeled a strain of  streptococci   which are unable to converse  sugar to milk acid .  Experiments on rats have shown that  a single  dose of  aerosol spray enriched with these microorganisms  suffice to change the composition of bacterial flora for the whole life  and prevents thus  tooth destruction .

A large  farm  can’t use  the traditional scheme of  stockbreeding wastes utilization envisaging   extended quarantine  of dung  in tanks. The contact of dung with environment  presents a serious danger to ecology. “Talina” employs  a microbiological utilization. Microbiological and enzyme preparations are  introduced to  dung bath  adjusted under  mesh  bottom. Biopreparations enhance dissolution of  organic matters causing  a bad smell.



Krasnojarsk : creating the nanotechnology center

The government of Kraskojarsk kray has announced  the open tender  for establishing  a nanotechnology center . The principal purposes of  the contest  is the creation of the Siberian  Nanotechnology Center. The center will serve as an incubator for innovative companies, for the technological and engineering support  of companies engaged in the field of nanotechnology. It will  execute construction  projects  ordered by commercial firms, it will ensure access to equipment  necessary to applied works.


Region Belgorod to commence implementation of the biotechnology concept

Belgorod region  is the leader in the pork and  poultry production . Subsequently  it became the  powerful generator of  harmful wastes – poultry generates over 1 million dung ,  swines – nearly 1.8 million cubicmeter of liquid dung a year.. As the result  the environment is infected by  methane, carbon dioxide, ammonia and hydrogen sulfide endangering the human health.


Ukraine opens a lab to detect GMOs

The new lab  opened in Kharkov  is attached to the regional Center of standardization, metrology and certification. By establishing the lab some food enterprises contributed  in the investment.  The service of detecting GMO in the product  is  charged by  approximately $100. Ukraine authorities  issued a law  permitting  the GMO level in the product from 0.1 up to 0.9%. All products exceeding this accepted level have to bear a special mark.

Russia displays a keen interest in Indian biotechnology

Indian mass-media cite the opinion of Mr Vasilov President and CEO of the Russia Biotechnology Society expressed last week during his visit to India "The «Russian biotechnology is going to establish partner relation and to create joint ventures with Indian companies. Our Society joints over 4000 members , they are eager to collaborate with Indian biotechnological and pharmaceutical firms, to commercialize innovations , to establish joint ventures." Russia is especially interested in vaccines, agrobiotechnology, nanobiotechnologies, bioinformatics, as well as in clinical trials.

During his stay Mr. Vasilov paid a visit to Genoma Valley and was impressed by the progress of such renown companies as Bharat Biotech and Vimta Labs.Mr Vasilov told that a large Russian delegation will take part in the 7th International Forum BioAsia, which will be held February, 3-6 in Haidarabad the famous scientific and technological stronghold of India. "BioAsia" forum hosts major international players active in the filed of biotechnology, biopharmaceutucs, agrobiotechnology. Mr. Vasilov anticipates that the ppropriate decisions concerning Russia's investments will be taken in the frame of the Forum.
